We were fortunate enough to find a Family Nature Club to be a part of. This has been a great way for us to get out and explore nature beyond our actual backyard. We join our Family Nature Club every other Sunday and explore one of our many local nature parks, nature preserves or conservation areas. One of the great things about belonging to a group like this is that we get to see and find so many different things that are not in our own backyard. We get to discover a lot of Florida native plants and animals, unfortunately, we also get to see a lot of invasive exotic plants and animals. Another great thing about belonging to and exploring with a Family Nature Club is that there are more eyes and ears to help discover new and exciting things and we all learn from each other.
Even though we tend to visit some of the same parks more than once we always see something new. Every time we do any nature exploring with our Family Nature Club we always see something amazing. One of my many favorite things that happen during Family Nature Club is when we discover something none of us have ever seen before. There are many times that not even our nature club leader will know what it is we have discovered. This is actually a lot of fun because then we get to come home and do a lot of research and try to identify what we have found. So, we all get to learn something new. I would love to share our discoveries with you and a little about the different parks that we go to.
I highly recommend if you have a Nature Club in your area to please give it a try and see if it is a fit for your family. If you do not have something locally that you can join, I will also share some tips on how you can start your very own Family Nature Club. I hope you enjoy our becoming backyard nature explorers with us as we explore and discover all our area has to offer.
